Beachy retreat in wilmington, NC
March 2024
Make-Believe Match by Melanie Harlow
That first Flight by Jenn McMahon
I Wish You Were Mine by Jessica Peterson

We had a great weekend full of good food, surprise guests, and lots of reading!

We first had a huge surprise from Jessica Peterson, the author from the Harbour Village series and the Lucky River Ranch series, popped in for the weekend and talked about her books, but most importantly got to know some of the readers as friends.

We popped over to Beachside Books in Wilmington and wiped them of many of their small town romances, and took a little tour of Tric while over there for our One Tree Hill fans!

Falling for books in manchester, VT
September 2024
Bourbon and Lies by Victoria Wilder
All My Love by Morgan Elizabeth
Unravel me by Jenn Plummer

This retreat felt like stepping into a small-town romance. We spent the weekend in a cozy Vermont home surrounded by fall leaves, warm soup, and just the right amount of spooky energy. There was apple picking, surprise ghost photos, football on in the background, and two incredible surprise guests—Victoria Wilder, author of The Bourbon Boys, and Alexandra Hale, author of Blackstone Falls—who stayed for pizza and bourbon cocktails like they were just one of the girls.

It was all a little magical in that quiet, unexpected way. Just the kind of weekend you wish you could do again.

Snow on the beach in New jersey
January 2025
That Last Secret by Jenn McMahon
Wicked and WIldflower by Sarah Bailey
A Little Magic by Lindsey Lanza

This one felt straight out of a movie—the kind with snow falling in a beach town and a group of women who somehow become lifelong friends in three days. We kicked things off with tini time (martinis + tiny snacks, obviously), had a surprise visit from Jenn McMahon, author of Firsts in the City, and spent the weekend browsing a romance bookstore, watching movies in pajamas, and soaking in all the cozy coastal energy.

One morning we woke up to actual snow on the beach and it was just as magical as it sounds.

Retreat on Rocky Top
April 2025
Alexander by E.L. Stevens
The Rivaled Crown by Holly Renee
Pitcher us by Mollie Goins

Tucked away in the mountains just outside of Knoxville, this retreat was the perfect mix of heart and calm. The house sat right on the lake—complete with dock hangs, hot tub chats, and mornings that felt like you could finally breathe again. We had surprise visits from Mollie Goins, author of Pitcher Us, and Ashley James, author of Eight Seconds to Ride, who fit right in like they'd always been part of the group.

There was movie night with all the snacks, a pasta-from-scratch lesson, and hours of good conversation. Honestly, we’re still thinking about the view (and the pasta).

advice from the
fiction found family

Can the advice be to have the best time ever? Just kidding. I would say to talk to EVERYONE, and don't be afraid to grab your book and have some chill introvert time if you need it. The weekend will change your life!

- Jessica Peterson, Author of Lucky River Ranch

Reach out to some of the girls before and have conversations! I felt like I was around my family just hanging out & seriously walked away with people that I love more than anything.

- @Rickie.Reads

Don't let fear hold you back! Be yourself and fully immerse yourself in the weekend. Play the games, talk the books, eat the food, and have fun. It truly can be one of the greatest weekends of your life.

- @BookishSouthrnBelle

Just showing up is the hardest step. We're all nervous. Give yourself some grace, take a deep breath, and take a moment to introduce yourself to each girl.
You've got this.
